About Me

Hi! My name is Melissa, and I am the proud owner of Cloud 9 Event Services. As the 3rd generation to be born and raised in Brantford Ontario, I have been active in this community for as long as I can remember.

In 2003, I was asked to design tickets for the Airshow Fundraising Dinner, and the following year I volunteered at the Airshow. Many milestones later, flash forward to 2008, and I was smitten to be leading the entire event. Seeing the satisfaction on the faces of the team, and perhaps the smell of too much jet fuel, marked a special moment when I knew that event planning was my true passion.

My formal training in communications, marketing and event planning has made me excessively organized. Book smarts are helpful, but after spending nearly a decade in the industry as a certified event planner, I have done everything from restocking port-o-potties to bartending! Tradeshows are one of my favourite events to do, but since I have a large family, I have a soft spot for family celebrations, especially weddings.

In my spare time I love to play with my neighbour’s Dogs
, attempt to bake (items may not be edible), and fly in anything that can be airborne. The business logo is a nod to my humble aviation beginnings, and my call sign, “Cloud 9” with captain’s wings. Let’s meet up, and I’d be happy to tell you the full story of how I got my call sign!
